Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2017 is in Crisis
  • Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Faces Set Back with Model’s Denied Visas to China

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show facing trouble with show in Shanghai as four of the models have been denied visas to China

Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show has become a larger than life event for every year. The company put up a great international show in Paris, France. The show had a star-studded performance line-up and a great ensemble of Victoria’s Secret Angels and models.

Victoria’s Secret wanted to do better this year. So, they announced that the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will be held in Shanghai, China this year. It seems like a great show in making until a few days ago.

Reportedly, Julia Belyakova, Kate Grigorieva, and Irina Sharipova of Russia and DashaKhlystun of Ukraine have all been denied visas to China. The news was confirmed by Instagram account @VSModelSpain.

While talking to Khlystun, she wrote that it was true that they had been denied visas. She said that it was frustrating for her and all the other models. They had worked hard, and they deserved to walk in the show.

While the models are frustrated, people are thinking very hard about why this issue might have arisen. China has denied entry to a select number of celebrities due to their ideological differences.

Earlier this year, Gigi Hadid was put under scrutiny and her chances of going to China looked to be in doubt. She had impersonated Buddha and issued an apology afterwards saying that she had not intended to hurt anyone’s sentiments.

She has been granted her visa to walk on the show. According to latest news, China and Russia have very amicable international relationship presently. So, the only reason anyone is thinking of is the collapse and recent death of a 14-years-old Russian model backstage at Shanghai Fashion Show.

The models’ representative agencies have made no comment regarding the visa denial of the models. CBS, which broadcasts the show every year has also made no comments about the reports.

However, the Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in New York, made a statement regarding the issue. He said that the applicants have to apply two months before they intend to get their visas.

61 models of Victoria's Secret Fashion Show were cleared already to walk the show three months prior for the November 20th show. So, it remains to be seen why these four models have not been granted their visas.
