Honda to Launch EVs that Charge in 15 Minutes in 2022

Honda to Slash the Charging Duration of its EVs Down to 15 Minutes

By the time the year 2022 comes along, that is approximately half a decade from now, Honda plans on selling EVs that will take merely 15 minutes to charge. This will solve a major hurdle in the way of electric battery-powered vehicles.

These EVs of the near future will race for a total distance of 240 km per 15 minutes of charging capacity. This is indeed supercool. The majority of EVs found today take upto half an hour to charge and that too only till the 80% level.

The crux of the matter is a high power battery of a different kind. This special battery will be able to get charged quickly and efficiently without any unnecessary hassles.

Honda gets its car batteries courtesy of Panasonic as well as a few other companies. The batteries of the future will be manufactured in alignment with a different partner whose identity remains unknown yet.

The vehicles will also have less heavier frames and they will have a more smoothly flowing power control system. Honda’s plans are to release its vehicles in a test run in Europe and Japan in the years 2019 and 2020 respectively.

Honda is currently wheeling and dealing with the other competitors in the market. In the capacity of a pioneer, it just might gain an edge over its rivals by the time 2022 comes rolling along.
