61-year-old limo driver, Guinness World Record holder and Flat Earth believer, Mike Hughes has been very vocal and enthusiastic about his steam rocket launch to prove that the Earth. His plan is to launch a steam rocket from Amboy, California.

As soon as he reaches the upper atmosphere, he wants to take pictures from Earth which will prove that the Earth is more disc-like than a sphere. He said that he will prove to the Flat Earth theorists that the Earth is flat.

He has faced problems with tech before. According to his own words, he is struggling with the prospect of the science and engineering that goes in building a rocket. His previous attempt failed on camera, but he did not give up. This time however, he is sure that his rocket would work.

This time around he couldnot get permission from Bureau of Land Managementto conduct his launch on public land.He claimed that he had gotten verbal consent from the agency and it was pending approval from the Federal Aviation Administration.

BLM spokeswoman Samantha Storms said that Hughes’ claims about the verbal permission were news and they had to reach out to him regarding the issue. Hughes required a special recreation permit from the BLM to hold the launch on public land.

Hughes did not deter. He had moved on to launch on a private property. The launch is scheduled to take place next week in Amboy, California. It will take place on an unincorporated community in the Mojave Desert along historic Route 66.

He said that the launch will take place for sure. Just a few days later than planned and a few miles off the road where they originally intended it to happen.
