Next Super Volcanic Explosion could Put an End to Mankind on Earth

New research has shown that our modern human civilization could get erased from the face of the earth in a few seconds thanks to a powerful explosion from a super volcano. We have been relatively fortunate in that no such thing has occurred in recent times.

Actually, the duration between these cataclysmic volcanic eruptions is not as large as the science of geology tells us. The time span was not longer than the total duration of civilization.

In fact, it was only slightly longer than the time which has passed since the agricultural revolution, which came into being 12,000 years ago.

The super eruptions can wreak havoc on an entire continent and change the climate too. These disasters can send humanity back to the Stone Age.

Two super eruptions occurred approximately 20,000 and 30,000 years ago. It is high time we realized that we are not immune to a super eruption occurring right here, right now.

It is just a matter of the law of chance going into overdrive. Yet Nature has its irregularities as well. Nothing is final in case of such natural catastrophes. Volcanoes though remain an ever-present danger.

Just like a huge meteor crashing into the earth, a volcanic eruption could trigger a blanketing of the atmosphere. This would be tantamount to a blocking out of the rays of the sun. Thus life would become extinct on earth.

A single eruption could send forth 1000 gigatons of lava and ash. Erstwhile estimates placed these eruptions at 45,000 to 714,000 year intervals. They were thus not a cause for worry.

The latest calculations however place the intervals at 17,000 years. Now, this is something worthy of standing up and taking notice. Especially places such as Yellowstone could be just waiting to explode and take the world alongside them into a nuclear winter.

The scientists have however urged the public not to be alarmed since nothing could be said with any degree of surety about such large natural forces.
