Smartphones Most Used Devices to Shop During Black Friday 2017

  • Number of Americans who bought tech this Black Friday hits record high

The CTA issues report for the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales which saw a high rate of tech purchases. Smartphones (41 percent) were the devices most used by consumers for online shopping during the 2017 Black Friday shopping week.

The Consumer Technology Association has completed its research for the past weekend. The Black Friday and Cyber Monday were the days to look out for. Both the days saw a hike in online purchases. The online purchase figures were easily trackable. The items that were bought were also recorded.

According to stats in the research by CTA indicate that consumers used smartphones for online shopping. 41 percent purchases were reported to have been used the most for online shopping. Close behind that is the PC, which was used 38 percent and 34 percent of online shopping was done by laptops.

Technology and technology related merchandise was one of the highest selling products were the top selling items including televisions, headphones and laptops and tablets, smartphones, videogame consoles, any type of technology accessory (e.g., cases, cables), DVD OR Blu-ray Disc players and smart speakers.

CTA also published the 2017 Post-Black Friday Week Survey. It covered Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It confirms that the number of Americans who shopped on Cyber Monday which is 26 percent, outperformedshopping on Black Friday which accumulated to 25 percent.

The report further indicated that the consumers will continue to shop throughout the holidays. CTA indicated that with the CES 2018 coming up, new trends in tech shopping will emerge.
