Qualcomm-powered iPhone X Models are Slightly Ahead of Intel Models in LTE Performance

Qualcomm chips in iPhone X models ranked higher in LTE performance than Intel’s models in a new test report from Cellular Insights.

Most of Apple’s models, starting from the iPhone 4s to the iPhone 6s, all employ Qualcomm modems inside them. Only in 2016 did Apple decide to use both Qualcomm and Intel facilities for its iPhones.

The two iPhone 7 units had radically different LTE performativity. Apple has since that day in time become Intel’s largest customer. Apple has carried on the tradition of dividing its time between Qualcomm and Intel.

The iPhone X has three models that are sold in various regions of the globe. Two modems were tested by a research institute. One belonged to Qualcomm and was termed the A1865.

Sprint, Verizon and US Cellular used it in Australia, China and India. As for the other one, it was Intel-based and termed the A1901. AT&T and T-Mobile used it in their repertoire.

In the United States, the Qualcomm-based A1865 was used since it ran on all four carriers. The Qualcomm modem was tested and it was found to be ahead of the Intel variety, according to PCMag.

Yet this is probably the last time Apple will be using Qualcomm modems since it is currently caught up in a lawsuit against the giant.
