Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van Joins IoT for the First Time

Photos of the Interior of the third-generation Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van reveal IoT Facilities

The Mercedes-Benz Company has started a teaser campaign for its 3rd generation Sprinter van. Novel pictures of the van’s interior cabin and back room have hit cyberspace. A huge Mercedes Pro touchscreen lies on the central console.

This third-generation Sprinter van has IoT on board. IoT stands for the Internet of Things. A central intelligent infotainment system exists at the core of this feature. Telematics also figure somewhere in the mix. They allow drivers to manage the fleet of vehicles with some pretty advanced communication skills.

Among some of the creature comforts available in this special van are USB ports and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Vehicular status and logistics can be gauged in the twinkle of an eye. Other features include: maintenance management, damage control, traffic maneuverability and a digital log.

Drivers can be kept posted regarding the latest developments and they may reroute their vehicles along the way in accordance with the latest news. Also they can remain in the know regarding the fuel levels of their vans.

The body of the van and the cargo solutions it affords are both plus points. The electric version of this Sprinter van will be released sometime in 2019.
