A novel research effort pointed towards the vast expanse of outer space as being the origin of Bronze Age iron tools and weapons.

New inroads made by scientists regarding the actual source of Bronze Age iron weapons shows that they were from outer space. Our ancient ancestors did not have access to smelting yet they had iron weapons.

A procedure known as geochemical analysis led to gauging the difference between geological and extraterrestrial metals. These were from the Bronze Age tools and implements. The ratios of iron, cobalt and nickel within the artefacts were analyzed.

What was found out was knowledge regarding the smelted iron ore and iron metal from meteorites in the far pavilions of space. It was already common knowledge that meteors contained significant amounts of iron.

Yet what remained controversial in scientific circles was the use of this meteoric iron among Bronze Age inhabitants. The iron weapons used during the Bronze Age were the most precious of finds.

While the Iron Age ensued around 1200 BCE, the Bronze Age was over two millennia older than this. Iron was thus a much more advanced metal than bronze and those who used it instead of the latter were considered a more evolved lot.

A portable X-ray fluorescence spectrometer was used in the process. This was employed in the museum holding the bronze artefacts. These objects included: a dagger, some beads, a pendant and several axes.

Also there was a dagger, bracelet and headrest from the Tomb of King Tut. Earthly iron has to undergo the reduction process before it can be made to be a part of various weapons. However, such is hardly so in the case of extraterrestrial iron. No interventions are necessary in its case.

Meteorites are formed upon the breakdown of planets. In case of the earth, all nickel gravitated towards the molten iron core. The fact that such beautiful and elegant Bronze Age artefacts were constructed from cosmic stuff is something to pause and ponder over.

The literature generated from the high quality scrutiny into the matter has yielded worthy information. Tools, weapons and jewelry made during the Bronze Age did indeed employ iron from extraterrestrial sources.

As for the analysis via spectrometer, it took place without the complex machine touching the artefacts. This research effort shows the evolution and use value of metals through the ages.

The results of this study got published in the Journal of Archaeological Science.
