Solve SNES Classic Problems

Here is how to fix common issues of the SNES Classic.

The SNES Classic is a popular Holiday gift of 2017. It will be a retro gaming Christmas Day, if you get the SNES Classic to work that is. Usually, there are no problems with the Super NES Classic. The most common problem is that the SNES Classic is not powering on. This issue is though not common in the United States as Nintendo shipped a fitting USB power supply with the SNES Classic.

Other regions received no power adapter. If you connect a SNES Classic to a USB power adapter that is too weak, the SNES Classic is not powering up. If the SNES Classic powers up and shows an image on your TV, but there is no sound, it can have several reasons. Make sure your TV is not muted and the volume is turned up at a reasonable level.

Not all game demos on the SNES Classic feature sound. Start a game from the menu and start playing to make sure there is supposed to be sound.

If there is still no sound check is the HDMI cable and if it's properly plugged into the TV and the SNES Classic unit. Then try another HDMI port on your TV. The use the HDMI cable that shipped with the SNES Classic, if you are using another one.

If you are using a sound bar, or if you are using a DVI adapter, unplug it, and connect the console directly to your TV using the HDMI cable. In case you have problems with the SNES Classic controllers, refer to the SNES Classic controller guide.

The Super NES Classic games can be tricky to play. Nintendo published all SNES Classic game manuals online. If these do not help you complete a level or clear a boss, try gaming communities for help like the SNES Classic sub-reddit.

If all fails and you can't get your SNES Classic to work, you can contact the support of Nintendo. From the U.S. and Canada, contact Nintendo by calling 1-800-255-3700. Representatives are available from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm PT, seven days a week. Spanish support is available from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm PT, seven days a week. Once you received an order or repair number you can check the status online here.
