Pressured Apple goes transparent on iPhone battery issue.

Apple's performance throttling in old iPhones caused a big controversy that already triggered lawsuits. The Cupertino giant has now reacted with several things to put the "iPhone battery gate" behind them.

First up is a proper apology to Apple customers who refuse to by a new iPhone each year. "We know that some of you feel Apple has let you down. We apologize," said Apple in an announcement.

Apple explains why they decided to reduce performance when an iPhone with an old battery. Without the precaution, iPhone could suddenly shut down. You also just can wait for a new iOS update coming in early 2018 that will show you the details about the current state of your iPhone battery. Lastly, Apple reduces the price of an out-of-warranty iPhone battery replacement by $50, from $79 to $29, for anyone with an iPhone 6 or later whose battery needs to be replaced, starting in late January and available worldwide through December 2018.
