Nintendo Switch Smashes Wii U Lifetime Sales Numbers in Japan

Nintendo Switch thrashes the Wii U Sales Record in Japan

Nintendo Switch has managed to make it to the top over the past couple of years. The records it has broken have earned it name and fame in the annals of gaming companies. Nintendo is definitely back and this time around it is here to stay. The recent remarkable record is one to be proud of.

Sales numbers show that the Nintendo Switch has already beaten the lifetime sales of the Wii U in Japan. This record has been accomplished within the time span of one year. Wii U took over half a dozen years to do the same thing.

The Switch has managed to rack up a tally of 3.4 million units. In Japan, only 3.3 million units have been sold in a lifetime record. That is still less than the Switch’s record total.

The global number could be added to these previous records soon. The Wii U has sold 13.5 million units worldwide, according to Famitsu. Nintendo Switch is coming nearer and nearer to that number.

4.8 million units have been sold in the United States by Nintendo and the European number is similar. Nintendo may indeed have outdone itself by now. By March 3rd, we will have a better idea of Nintendo’s record-making capabilities.
