2018 Sony A8F OLED TV: Features, Prices and Release Date

The second generation Sony OLED TV arrived at CES 2018.

Sony entered the OLED TV market in 2017 with the Sony Bravia A1E OLED TV series. The new Sony Bravia A8F series features an improved image processor and support for Dolby Vision besides HDR10.

The Sony A8F OLED TV has the acoustic surface speaker technology, introduced in the A1E series. Unlike most TV speakers, sound comes to you from the entire screen, immersing you in exciting new entertainment experiences. Two actuators behind the TV vibrate the screen to create sound that's truly engaging. It's pictures and sound in perfect harmony.

The Android TV smart TV system allows you to control the Sony A8F via Amazon Alexa devices and Google Home enabled products.

The Sony A8F comes in 55-inch (XBR-55A8F) and 65-inch (XBR-65A8F) sizes. The A1E Series is also available in a 77-inch size. It will be interesting how Sony will price the XBR-55A8F and XBR-65A8F. The 55-inch Sony XBR55A1E OLED TV is selling for $2,998. Sony needs to bring down the price of its OLED line-up to make a dent in LG's OLED TV sales.

The 55-inch 2017 LG OLED55C7P OLED TV is selling for $1,796.99 right now on Amazon. LG also introduced a new generation of OLED TVs at the CES 2018. This will drive further down the prices of 2017 LG OLED TVs.

Sony has not yet announced the prices and release date of the Sony A8F OLED TVs.
