CES 2018: Samsung Debuts DRVLINE Platform
  • Samsung Takes Bold Step Toward Autonomous Future

Samsung reveals DRVLINE Series for Autonomous Driving in the Future. DRVLINE is is first of its kind open, modular and scalable platform which allows automakers to build advanced, customized cars of the future

Samsung introduced its DRVLINE series today. Also it will be a major player in the future self-driving market. The former series is an inclusive, module-based, scalable hardware/software platform.

Automakers will definitely benefit from this scheme of things. The best of sophisticated technology will be incorporated into cars. Thus the batches of vehicles in the future will be like robot cars and able to handle the driving experience on their own.

While these cars won’t change the environment, they will transform how we view being driven through the streets and the general city culture.

Not only will the roads be a safer place, the very concept of a ride in a vehicle will be revolutionized in a total and final manner. Several industries will collaborate to make this endeavor a reality.

It will truly look like a dream materializing into actuality. The very thought is exciting to the extreme. The smartest individuals on the face of the planet will put two and two together to make the DRVLINE platform a possibility.

Customization and individual components will count in this scheme. The work will be oriented towards Level 5 automation. The technology will be tops and IoT will be a part and parcel of self driving cars.

“In a car, the human brain is constantly performing incredibly complex calculations while driving,” said John Absmeier, SVP of Autonomous/ADAS Strategic Business Unit at HARMAN and VP of Smart Machines for Samsung Electronics.

“How far is that lamppost? Is that pedestrian going to step into the street? How long until the yellow light turns red? The industry has made incredible advances in automation, yet in-car compute is still a long way from approximating the power of our brains. The DRVLINE platform with its open and high-level compute capability is a first major first step toward building an ecosystem to support full autonomy.”
