Chinese Huawei appears to run its first Super Bowl commercial.

Chinese mobile technology giant Huawei is preparing to advertise during the Super Bowl 2018. The Huawei Super Bowl 2018 commercial has not been announced yet, but the evidence is overwhelming. Huawei announced at the CES 2018 to launch the pre-order for the new Huawei Mate 10 Pro smartphone in the United States on Feb. 4, which is Super Bowl Sunday.

Additionally, Huawei introduced Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot as its new spokesperson. Gal Gadot will be Huawei's first Chief Experience Officer. In this new role, the extremely popular actress will help shape the company’s brand experiences and play an active role in listening to and providing ongoing ideas to inform how Huawei will bring the best experiences to its consumers.

To launch the pre-order for the new Huawei Mate 10 Pro on Super Bowl Sunday is already a big giveaway. What sells the Huawei Super Bowl 2018 ad is Gal Gadot. A celebrity is a crucial ingredient to a Super Bowl campaign. Gal Gadot is no stranger to Super Bowl ads. She appeared last year on the side of Jason Statham in the Wix Super Bowl commercial.

Huawei might still decide to cancel its Super Bowl commercial as things have not been worked out as planned for the launch of the Huawei Mate 10 Pro. According to reports, a deal with AT&T to sell the Mate 10 Pro has fallen through, according to the WSJ. Verizon is according to sources of Android Police under political pressure to not launch the Mate 10 later this year. Huawei now only announced at the CES to sell the Mate Pro 10 for $799 unlocked on Amazon, Best Buy, and other retailers.

Huawei is since years under US government scrutiny, with claims of spying for the Chinese government with their products. Now there is a renewed effort by the US government to hamper the growth of Huawei in the US. Other countries around the world do not have that issue with Huawei. 45 of the world’s 50 biggest wireless carriers are customers of Huawei, according to ot the Wall Street Journal.

Without carrier deals in place, Huawei might decide not to splurge the over $5 million for a 30 second Super Bowl commercial. On the other hand, it might be too late to pull out. Considering the huge success of Huawei in recent years, it's not a the money that will drive the decision to run the Super Bowl ad.

The Super Bowl 2018 ads chart now starting to take form. Super Bowl advertisers are announcing their expensive commercials closer to the Big Game than in past years as consumers attention span is decreasing. Most of the Super Bowl 2018 social media and marketing campaigns will kick off in the week before the Super Bowl taking place on Sunday, Feb. 4. Read the latest Super Bowl 2018 ad news.
