It didn't take long to find that the Nintendo Switch is a home run.

If you’ve been paying attention to the gaming industry even a little bit, you probably know how much of a ripple the Nintendo Switch is making. In fact, it’s the fastest-selling home video game system in US history. Its original release came with supply problems when purchases soared past Nintendo’s most optimistic predictions. Even after the initial supply issues, Nintendo sold almost five million Switch consoles in a mere ten months, and the system continues to sell well.

So what makes it so popular? Let’s take a look at what the system offers that has gamers so excited. With the Switch, you can:

1. Take Your Game Anywhere or Play From Home

That’s right, the Nintendo Switch is one of the most versatile systems on the market, and the experience of owning one reflects such convenience and freedom. The piece comes with new, advanced Nintendo technology and controller design that allows you to play at home or on the go. The home console type comes together with a portable system to create the right combination for any gaming need you have. At home, plug the Switch into your TV. To move, pull it off the dock for an immediate handheld device.

Of course, the Switch comes with a fun controller configuration that allows fans several additional options. It has a pair of detachable mini-controllers, dubbed by Nintendo as the Switch Joy-Con. A single player can put a controller in each hand, two people can each grab one or a group of gamers can bring Joy-Con of their own to the mix for group competition or co-op.

2. Play Both New and Classic Nintendo Games

There’s no denying the reputation Nintendo has built over the years with groundbreaking games like the Mario and Zelda franchises. The games sell every time, partly due to the nostalgia millions of fans associate with them and partly just because of their fun play style. The Nintendo Switch gives players access to these games and new, revamped versions like “Super Mario Odyssey,” “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” and “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.”

It doesn’t stop there. For the first time ever, Nintendo is accepting third-party games in addition to their library of first-party titles. This acceptance of new game designers is a revolution for the company, and because of it, the mix of titles available for the Switch drives sales even more.

3. Pay Low Prices

While some of the consoles in direct competition with the Nintendo Switch like the PS4 and Xbox One offer similar benefits like fun games and advanced technology, the Switch runs a little less expensive if you’re looking for a combination of portable and stationary. Buying used at a better price for any one of these systems is always an option, too, but keep in mind that the Switch, PS4 and Xbox One all have their own unique benefits and differences that might make one more desirable over the other for any particular gamer.

It’s no surprise that the Nintendo Switch sells so well once you consider all it has to offer. You have to get your hands on an updated gaming system as soon as possible now that you’ve heard about them, right? Be sure to carefully consider which console would work best for you before making a purchase. Then, play away!
