Facebook makes major change to News Feed.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced a major new direction for Facebook that has a big impact on news publishers. "I'm changing the goal I give our product teams from focusing on helping you find relevant content to helping you have more meaningful social interactions," said Mark Zuckerberg on his Facebook page.

The first up for change is the Facebook News Feed. Users can expect to see more posts from your friends, family and groups. Facebook users will see less public content like posts from businesses, brands, and media. And the public content you see more will be held to the same standard, says Zuckerberg. It should encourage meaningful interactions between people.

This means that you can't get your news anymore from Facebook. You shouldn't have relied on Facebook as a news source in the first place. Now users just see the updates of their personal bubble of friends. For news publishers, it means that traffic to content from Facebook is dead. Instead, publishers would need to focus on interactions with Facebook users in other ways.

Zuckerberg expects users to spend less time on Facebook through these changes. The time spent on Facebook is supposed to become more valuable. The change is at least having a big impact on Fake News on the cost of legit news organizations that have invested in producing and channeling content into Facebook.
