For the first time since 2011, Verizon is back at the Big Game.

Verizon is not only going to be present at the U.S. Bank Stadium with its LTE network. The carrier will run for the first time since 2011 a Super Bowl commercial. The Verizon Super Bowl 2018 ad will face off against T-Mobile and Sprint, who likely return with Super Bowl ads this year.

Verizon has not revealed the details about its comeback to the Super Bowl, only confirmed its participation to Adweek. Fun fact. The 2011 Verizon Super Bowl ad featured Paul Marcarelli. The actor jumped ship and became Sprint's spokesperson in 2016.

Over the past two years, Verizon increased wireless data capacity by more than 500% around the Super Bowl 2018 stadium. The carrier added LTE Advanced technology and permanent new infrastructure to the Verizon network in Minneapolis/Saint Paul. The permanent new network enhancements will boost performance in U.S. Bank Stadium and areas of anticipated high demand, including Super Bowl LIVE, Super Bowl Experience, popular tourist attractions, airports, hotels, venues and other special event locations throughout the Twin Cities area. T-Mobile has announced similar enhancements to their network earlier.

This much lower than in past years at three weeks ahead of the Big Game. Super Bowl advertisers are announcing their expensive commercials closer to the Big Game than in past years as consumers attention span is decreasing. Another factor is the fear of social media backlash in case the commercials hit the wrong buttons.

Most of the Super Bowl 2018 social media and marketing campaigns will kick off in the week before the Super Bowl taking place on Sunday, Feb. 4. Find all announced commercials in Super Bowl 2018 ads chart. Read the latest Super Bowl 2018 ad news. Check out also the best Super Bowl 2018 TV deals.
