The 2020 VW Golf is to Arrive in GTI and Golf R Versions
Novel facts have come out about the next generation VW Golf. This 8th gen model will have its launch ceremony at the Frankfurt Motor Show sometime in 2019.
While this vehicle will probably inspire several spin-off cars such as the plug-in hybrid, GTI and Golf R, the e-Golf remains an enigma. It appears to have been put on the backburner.
Both the GTI and Golf R will be getting upgraded horsepower versions which are 250 and 350 respectively. The GTI will thus be on a par with the Ford Focus ST and the Subaru WRX. As for the Golf R, it will be equivalent to the Ford Focus RS and two other Mercedes model vehicles.
The e-Golf was supposed to have a 186 mile range. Yet that mystery car got shelved for unknown reasons. Over 1.6 billion pounds have been spent on the R&D regarding the Mk8 model, according to AutoExpress.
The future is one of totally connected vehicles which will be virtually full-fledged computerized systems on wheels. With digital cockpits and driver assistance systems on board, they will bedazzle by their sheer electronic complexity. Safety will be a key component which will be kept in mind by the manufacturers and designers too.
