The famous Spielwaren Messe in Germany

The Nuremberg Toy Fair or Spielwarenmesse takes place annually since 1949. The international fair for toys, hobbies, and leisure features more than 2,850 national and international toy manufacturers. The 2018 Nuremberg Toy Fair is expected to see about 73,000 buyers and toy traders from over 120 nations. The organizers estimate that there will be a million products on display.

An interesting fact is that about 815 of the 2,850 exhibitors will only present at the Nuremberg Toy Fair and not on the other two fairs taking place in New York and London. The Toy Fairs at the beginning of the year reveal the toys that will be on sale in the Holiday shopping season. Toy makers compete each year to land the hottest Holiday toy of the year.

In 2016, Spin Master dominated with the Hatchimals and in 2017 WowWee's Fingerlings and MGA's L.O.L. Surprise dolls dominated and were hard to find. At the Nuremberg Toy Fair 2018, we go hands-on and try spot the hottest toys and trends for 2018.

The Nuremberg Toy Fair 2018 begins on January 31 and ends Feb. 4. We will be there already on January 30th as the Toy Fair gives journalists an early look on press day.
