Ford recalls its Focus RS Models and Offers Free Repairs to Stop White Smoke

Ford is confessing to the faulty engineering that went into the head gaskets of its 2.3 liter EcoBoost engines. These engines are to be found in the Ford Focus RS models.

Ford has offered to repair this flaw in the vehicles absolutely free of cost. The complaints regarding this glitch in the system were coming on thick and fast since about a year or so. So Ford decided to do something about it once and for all.

The automaker plans on sending letters to its customers and it has also made a formal apology regarding the mistake. It will pressure test the cooling systems of the Ford Focus RS vehicles.

The cylinder head gaskets will especially be replaced and molded closer to the ideal form. The models of vehicles which are in dire need of repair include the 2016 and 2017 versions of the Focus RS hatchbacks.

The first signs of a fault in the head gaskets is the emission of white smoke from the exhaust pipe. The company did give a limited time opportunity in which to avail this free repair work offer.

Beyond a certain date, the offer will no longer be valid so drivers are urged to respond to the window of opportunity as soon as possible. Regardless of the condition of the vehicles, Ford will repair them through January 31st, 2019.

According to Ford Motors, it takes merely two days to do the repair work on each vehicle so it is not such a big deal.
