Mercedes Super Bowl 2018 Car Game Crashed and Has Been Delayed

The Mercedes Last Fan Standing car game is a Super Bowl fail so far.

Mercedes is having huge issues with the Last Fan Standing game. The online game to win an AMG Mercedes was supposed to start at 6:30 pm ET. It still has not started. They clearly underestimated what it means to run a game like this during Superbowl. The website says now that Mercedes will announce a new start time soon. The first half of Super Bowl LII is played. It's after 8pm ET now.

Update 3: Mercedes gave up and will randomly draw the winner of the Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe among all who have registered.

Mercedes said on Twitter: "Good news: the Mercedes-AMG is still in play. Bad news: our enthusiasm broke the internet. Eligible registrants will now be entered into a random drawing to pick a winner. We’ll announce them as soon as he/she can be confirmed. Sorry again and thank you for your patience!"

Mercedes did not break the internet. The internet broke their badly designed game.

Update 2: Looks like the 9:15 pm ET launch failed again. Mercedes has though not released an update yet on the situation as of 9:50 pm ET.

Update 1: The Last Fan Standing game has a new start time. The new start time is 9:15 pm ET. The link in your registration confirmation email is still valid. You need to click it to rejoin the game. Let's see if it will work this time around.

The German car maker is set for a big Super Bowl fail with their car game. The company posted updates on Twitter, but since an hour there is nothing new.

The registration and training for the Mercedes Super Bowl 2018 game "Last Fan Standing" has stared as planned earlier today. Mercedes-Benz is not advertising in the Super Bowl LII broadcast, but garners attention with an incredible online game during the Big Game. During the Super Bowl LII broadcast, you can win in a mobile game a hot Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe ($63,140 MSRP plus $19,842 cash) as price.

The game called “Last Fan Standing” is a modern take on a classic mall challenge in which people need their patience and stamina to win a new car by being the last person with a finger planted on the car. Now you need to keep your finger on the display of your smartphone, following a car around the screen.

The Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe moves around the Super Bowl stadium of 2019 slowly, but you really need to pay attention to not lose it. The car is not moving fast but it takes you around the whole screen with movements in all directions and the view zooms in and out. A green dot indicates that you're safely on the car.

The C43 can get as small as your fingertip and as big, filling the screen. One test run is 3 minutes and 15 seconds including the simulation of a timeout. You can earn a 5-minute time-out when you share on Twitter that you are joining the game. From the 3 minute playtime I can tell that the Last Fan Standing game is going to be exhausting. Playing this for an hour requires a lot of stamina. If you get distracted by just a second or two, you will be out.

Mercedes gives all kinds of good tips to prepare for the challenge to win a The $63,000 Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe. Tips include to connect your smartphone to power, turn off notifications, keep food and drinks within reach and more.
