Tomy KiiPix Photo Printer for Kids Debuts at the Toy Fair 2018

KiiPix turns smartphone photos into hard-copies.

Toymaker Tomy unveils KiiPix at the Toy Fair 2018. The KiiPix is an instant photo printer that produces retro-stylized photos from any smartphone.

The $39.99 KiiPix printer is easy to use, making it easy to capture, print, and share. KiiPix will be available in Summer 2018 in three colors: pink, blue or black.

"With cell phones always in hand, capturing everyday moments has never been easier. However, as convenient as it is to snap a pic and share it socially in today's digital age, the art of exchanging physical photos with friends and family or framing images to display has been all but abandoned. Until KiiPix, that is," states Peter Henseler, President of Tomy International. "We're proud of the fact that Tomy is known for innovation, and the launch of KiiPix is a testament to our commitment to create exciting products that work well in today's technology-driven world."

KiiPix creates vintage-inspired printed photos, transporting treasured images from the digital world into the physical. KiiPix does not require a special app or battery. Simply place any smartphone on the KiiPix instant picture printer and print photos from the smartphone's camera roll.

Film sold separately. The KiiPix printer works by projecting the image currently displayed on the smartphone onto the film material. This is why the KiiPix does not require batteries. It's not transmitting the image in digital form, it's very analog. It appears that Tomy has first shown the KiiPix in 2013. Now four years later the analog smartphone printer comes to market.
