WowWee Fingerlings and MGA Entertainment L.O.L. Surprise! win Toy of the Year 2018 Award

The Toy Association announced the TOTY 2018 winners at the Toy Fair 2018.

The winners of the Toy Awards (TOTY at the Toy Fair 2018 are no surprises. Fingerlings by WowWee and L.O.L. Surprise! by MGA Entertainment are sharing the Toy of the Year 2018 award. The Toy Association announced the winners of their prestigious toy award last night in New York.

"Known as the 'Oscars' of the toy industry, the TOTY Awards celebrate the best and brightest people and products … all while raising vital funding for The Toy Foundation's ongoing mission to bring help and joy to children in need," says Steve Pasierb, president & CEO of The Toy Association. "The 2018 collection of extraordinary TOTY finalists and winners have brought endless fun and learning to kids across the globe. The annual TOTY awards process serves as a testament to the toy community's deep talent, entrepreneurialism, and innovation!"

The overall "Toy of the Year" winners were determined by an expert panel that discussed all the finalists before rendering a decision based on TOTY votes, holiday sales, and media buzz. Fingerlings and L.O.L. Surprise! clearly, deserve the top toy award.

These toys have dominated the Holiday season of 2017. While MGA Entertainment's L.O.L. Surprise! toys continue the momentum into the new year with the release of the L.O.L. Surprise! Pearl Surprise, the demand for Fingerlings has died down. It's possible that the new WowWee Fingerlings Hugs can bring new attention to Fingerlings.

The Toy Awards are handed out in 17 categories. Notable winners are the Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy Dancing Groot Figure by Hasbro, winning the Action Figure of the Year and Tech Toy of the Year winner is Lego Boost Creative Toolbox. See the complete list of Toy Awards 2018 winners below.
