Nintendo Switch's First Anniversary is Today, March 3

The Nintendo Switch celebrates its 1st birthday on Saturday.

Today, Saturday, March 3, marks the first anniversary of the Nintendo Switch. The new console has turned Nintendo completely around. Since the release, Nintendo's stock price has exploded. on March 3, 2017, the NTDOY stock traded at $25. Yesterday it traded for $57. Nintendo's market cap more than doubled in the first year of the Switch.

The success of the Switch can also be seen in the hype around it. The Switch is the most talked about and most covered console of last year. Sony and Microsoft's more advanced hardware has not inspired as much excitement as the Switch. Every game release is celebrated and people went nuts over the Nintendo Labo cardboard extensions announcement. Nintendo is rumored to release new hardware accessories for the Switch in 2018.

Nintendo is set to sell 17 million Nintendo Switch by fiscal year end on March 31. The company plans to sell more than 20 million Nintendo Switch units in in the fiscal year 2018 starting April 1. The second year of the Nintendo Switch is set to be exciting. 2018 will also be the first year of real Nintendo Switch deals. Expect Nintendo Switch Holiday bundles with savings of at least $50 to show up in Black Friday 2018 ads.
