Cosinuss In-Ear Vital Signs Gadget Could Go to Space at SXSW 2018

German startup presents in-ear device to NASA's TRISH at SXSW 2018.

Munich based Cosinuss develops the technology and sensors needed for the accurate and mobile monitoring of medically relevant vital signs. This miniature in-ear sensor is measuring the heart rate, body temperature, blood level oxygen saturation, heart rate variability and blood pressure and various other parameters. The wearable has caught the attention of NASA's TRISH (Translational Research Institute for Space Health).

TRISH is concerned with fundamental research into practice to explore personal health in outer space. Cosinuss will present their wearable vital sensor at the SXSW 2018 in Texas. The company will be on stage on Saturday, 9:30 am local time in the "How Our Astronauts Make Us Healthy" event.

We have covered two years ago. Back then the focus was on sports as top triathlete Jan Frodeno adopted the technology to improve his training. Maybe the cosinuss technology will be part of a future manned Mars mission.

The SXSW 2018 is taking place in Austin and lasts from March 9 until March 18. Founded in 1987, SXSW is best known for its conference and festivals that celebrate the convergence of the interactive, film and music industries. Keynote speaker at the SXSW 2018 is Melinda Gates. Other featured speakers include Michael Dell, Priscilla Presley, Richard Linklater, Jonathan Nolan, and Ray Kurzweil.
