Nintendo Could Overtake Microsoft This Year
  • Nintendo Switch Set to Swoop in to takeover Microsoft Market Share

Nintendo Switch huge sales for 2017 make Nintendo a top contender to have their market share elevate over Microsoft

Nintendo Switch made some really big numbers in sales in 2017. The dual mode gaming console was not the first bet for many experts. They did not see the Nintendo Switch doing well in the market.

They were proven wrong however when the fans and gamers bought the new gaming console enthusiastically. Added with the strong sales for the SNES Classic, 3DS, Nintendo Switch sales; the figures for the sales of Nintendo hardware and software have been projected to reach at $11 billion in 2018.

Just to put everything in perspective, that is $8 billion more spent on Nintendo in 2017, which is twice as much as Nintendo’s 2016 total sales. Analysis from IHS Markit have revealed the figures and also revealed that Nintendo might have surpassed Microsoft for this year.

According to IHS Markit, Microsoft spent $10 billion Xbox-related hardware and software. 2017 saw the release of Xbox One X and the Xbox One, the software offering for both the consoles are not very much. That means that already, the sales for Microsoft are already expected to plummet.

On the other hand, we hear everyday that game developers are developing various titles for Nintendo Switch. With several successes like Yoshi, Pokemon, and Metroid games have given out a very optimistic vibe that Nintendo Switch is becoming a very popular console among the masses.

Nintendo itself is concentrating on making Switch a popular console instead of releasing an updated version of the console. Nintendo Switch is poised to succeed in terms of software offerings and games this year which bumps its sales price and assure a steady market revenue for the company.

Hence, without a doubt, Nintendo has successfully taken over Microsoft’s second slot in the gaming market shares.
