Samsung Galaxy S9+ Teardown Reveals Familiar Sights

iFixit opens up the new Galaxy S9 plus.

The new Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ ship on March 16, but iFixit already got their hands on a Galaxy S9+ and did their teardown thing. The Galaxy S9+ teardown revealed familiar sights and a familiar body. The only really new thing is the dual-aperture camera system.

The batteries found in the S9+, S8+, and Note7 share the same specs and the same basic compartment buried underneath a wall of glue and glass.

"Last year it was exploding batteries; this year it's batteries slowing things down. Wouldn’t it be easier (and cheaper) for manufacturers—and everyone—to make battery replacement more consumer-friendly?" says iFixit.

You can follow the full Galaxy S9+ teardown on the iFixit site. If you pre-order the Galaxy S9 at Sam's Club this weekend, you get a $150 Sam's Club gift card with the purchase of the S9 on a two-year contract with AT&T, Sprint, Verizon or US Cellular.

The new Samsung Galaxy S9 and its camera that automatically adapts to capture pictures in both bright daylight and super low light, or the ability to record in super slow-mo. Other features include AR emojis, Dolby Atmos, live translation, infinity display and more.
