Palm Phone To Come to Verizon this Year

TCL is rumored to release Palm branded smartphone in 2nd half of 2018.

Chinese consumer electronics company TCL is mostly known for its TVs that dominate the sales charts on Amazon since years. TCL is though also making smartphones under the BlackBerry and Alcatel brands. Now the company is rumored to activate a legendary brand for smartphones.

TCL owns since 2015 the Palm brand. The Palm Pilot was once a must-have gadget. The PDA paved the way for smartphones. In 2009 the Palm Pre smartphone launched. A year later HP bought Palm and managed to destroy the innovative company with a year. WebOS survived in LG smart TVs and the Palm brand is in the hands of TCL.

According to a source of Android Police, TCL is finally close to release a Palm branded smartphones. Retro brands are all the hype, but this is not a guarantee that consumers are waiting for a Palm branded smartphone. HMD has quite some success with selling smartphones under the Nokia brand. This success is likely the motivation behind TCL's Palm project.

The first new Palm smartphones are supposed to be released on Verizon in the second half of 2018. I'm not a fan of retro brands. I just don't get the nostalgia with gadgets, video game consoles or even cars for that matter. I want new things with futuristic design that has not been available yet. Let's look forward not backward.
