Mercedes-Benz Plan a New All-Electric Full-Size S-Class Sedan, to be called Mercedes EQ, to Challenge Tesla Motor’s Flagship

Mercedes has plans to make a battery-based sedan which is close to its S-Class which costs $90,000. This is a clear challenge to Tesla’s Model S.

This new sedan is a luxury vehicle. Called the EQ S, it is a part of a scheme by Mercedes to debut over 10 EVs within the next 4 years. The series of EQ vehicles will also have hybrid models accompanying them, according to Bloomberg.

These will offer a radically different battery range. One thing which can be said with surety is that all these vehicles will be electric in their nature.

Mercedes-Benz is fast catching up with Tesla Motors. In fact, now it is ready to give it a run for its money in many spheres. A top luxury car manufacturer, Mercedes had a good year of sales and profits in 2017. Its rivals last year were BMW and Volkswagen.

Mercedes, however, faces certain issues especially with regard to batteries in its cars and digital solutions. Trade limits in both the USA and China also happen to have given Mercedes some trouble over the years.

China and the USA are actually Mercedes’ largest regions of investment. Thus the profits earned by the car company faced a bit of a slowdown but that was temporary.

Mercedes-Benz is looking forward to increasing its flexibility with reference to cars and all things car-related. This will lend renewed strength to its profitability in the future.
