Super Mario Odyssey and Zelda: Breath of Wild win it big for Nintendo Switch at the 14th annual BAFTA Game Awards

The 2018 British Academy Games Awards were held at Troxy, London on April 12th. The event held on Thursday celebrated the best in games for the year 2017. With Nintendo Switch making giant waves in the world of gaming.

It was hard to avoid some of the biggest names from the gaming console. Nintendo's Super Mario Odyssey and Zelda: Breath of Wild were the two big titles that were released last year and they have found success at the BAFTA Game Awards.

Super Mario OdysseyGame Design and Family categories. The action-adventure game The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild won the BAFTA for Game Innovation. It definitely lived up to the Digital Spy’s review which dubbed it as "greatest adventure yet"

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice became the biggest winner of the night. Bagging five BAFTA Game awards including Artistic Achievement, Audio Achievement, British Game, Game Beyond Entertainment and Performer category going to Melina Juergens.

The prestigious Fellowship BAFTA Game award was presented to Tim Schafer, in recognition of his outstanding creative contribution to the industry and for his illustrious career in game design.

Schafer has worked at LucasArts for over ten years. He also found the Double Fine Productions. He is best known for his work as the designer of the critically-acclaimed games like Full Throttle, Psychonauts, and Broken Age.

The Best Game winner of the BAFTA Game Award was What Remains Of Edith Finch. Gorogoa was awarded the Best Debut BAFTA Game award while Golf Clash won the category of Mobile Game.

Cuphead won the BAFTA Game award for Music category and Divinity: Original Sin 2 won the Narrative category award.
