Future Samsung Gadget with Flexible Display Is a Shapeshifter

A new patent describes a smart device that can be used in many forms.

Samsung invented a multifunctional smart device that can be used as a smartphone, tablet, smartwatch, alarm clock radio and as a full-sized car navigation system. How crazy is that?

The flexibility of the display enables users to change the shape of the Samsung smart device in many ways to adjust to the use. The device's housing consists of three parts, two narrow sections at both ends, and a twice as long centerpiece.

When the foldable Samsung smartphone is completely unfolded, the user has a large widescreen display at his disposal. The two ends can be folded backward, in folded position the display is on the outside of the smartphone. The middle part is significantly thinner than the two sides, this benefits the flexibility.

The foldable Samsung device can also be placed in a car on top of the dashboard, via a magnetic holder. The full width of the screen can then be used, for example as a navigation system.

This creative smart device will likely be rather far off in the future. We have still to wait until 2019 to get the first foldable smartphone from Samsung. Once more this patent was spotted by our friends at Dutch tech site LetsGoDigital.
