Larian lost bid for Canadian ToysRUs, but is still game for US stores.

The profitable ToysRUs Canada business has found a buyer in Toronto based Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd., owned by owned by billionaire Prem Watsa, the investment firm outbid Isaac Larian.

The MGA Entertainment CEO made a bid for the profitable ToysRUs Canada business with about 80 stores and 274 best performing ToysRUs stores in the US. He and his investors bid $675 million for the US stores and $215 million bid for ToysRUs Canada. That is almost $900 million Isaac Larian pulled together are apparently too low.

Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd. bids $237 million for ToysRUs Canada. In an LA Times interview, Larian said to not try to compete with Prem Watsa for the Canadian business. He still could bid today. He is though happy with Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd. as new owner of ToysRUs Canada. Isaac Larian and his group of investors are no focusing on making a bid for US ToysRUs stores. The initial bid of $675m is too low for the TRU bankruptcy managers.

Larian will reevaluate the US TRU stores this week and make a new offer. "ToysRus, to me, is an American icon. I look forward to 100 years from now when nobody will know who the hell Isaac Larian was. 'He came up with L.O.L. Surprise!, Little Tikes and Bratz' — nobody is going to remember that. What they're going to remember is 'He was the guy who saved Toys R Us.' I hope so, anyway. Maybe I'm a dreamer, I don't know," Larian told the LA Times.

The ToysRUs stores around the globe have found buyers and will live on in one way or another. The big question is if there will be ToysRUs stores remaining in the US.
