PlatinumGames duo Atsushi Inaba and Hideki Kamiya want The Wonderful 101 to be released on Nintendo Switch

PlatinumGames has been very subtle with their hints that they want to bring The Wonderful 101 on Nintendo Switch. We did not know what we could expect out of the subtle hints. That’s why the wonder duo of PlatinumGames, Atsushi Inaba, and Hideki Kamiya took a more direct approach while they talked at the Reboot Develop 2018.

The talk was based on their campaign, “Beyond the Climax: Taking action towards the future”. During the talk, helped with a translator they asked the audience if they had played the Wii U exclusive.

In a statement, they said, “We’re going to knock the audience participation up a bit. They’re still trying to negotiate with Nintendo whether a possible [The] Wonderful 101 Switch release could happen, but it always helps when the people in the audience at Reboot clap if they’d actually buy a Switch version of [The] Wonderful 101. So, anybody who would buy that, please clap…”

It received a standing ovation.

In an interview to Eurogamer, Inaba said in a statement, “From their perspective obviously there are things they can’t talk about, about dealings they have with Nintendo.

Certainly, they can say everything they said during the speech, which was, ‘Hey, we should do that.’ But whether that is a ‘we are going to do that’, and what the likelihood is of that happening, is just going to have to be something you wait to find out.” (translated).

The Wonderful 101 was not successful with sales figure despite good reviews. Nintendo Switch has brought a wide range of games including a great number of indie titles.

Some games are also getting revival releases on the gaming console and many game developers are trying to get their games on the increasingly popular Nintendo Switch. Nintendo Switch has become the top-selling console of 2017. It is giving a lot of developers hope to revive their business.
