After 35 years, legendary 70s pop group ABBA is making a comeback.

Legendary 70s band ABBA announced on Instagram that they have recorded two new songs. This could become the music comeback of the year. ABBA said in the announcement that the reunion is a consequence of the ABBA avatar tour project.

"The decision to go ahead with the exciting ABBA avatar tour project had an unexpected consequence. We all four felt that, after some 35 years, it could be fun to join forces again and go into the recording studio. So we did. And it was like time had stood still and that we only had been away on a short holiday. An extremely joyful experience! It resulted in two new songs and one of them "I Still Have Faith in You" will be performed by our digital selves in a TV special produced by NBC and the BBC aimed for broadcasting in December. We may have come of age, but the song is new. And it feels good," reads the statement posted on the ABBA Instagram account.

The ABBA avatar tour will kick off in 2019. The Swedish pop sensation will appear as a hologram on stage. Now the Holograms will not only perform ABBA's classics but also new songs. The avatars will be representing the band as it was in the late 70s at the climax of their career.

ABBA formed in Stockholm in 1972 by Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad. The band became one of the most commercially successful acts in the history of popular music, topping the charts worldwide from 1974 to 1982. ABBA won the Eurovision Song Contest 1974 at The Dome in Brighton, UK, giving Sweden its first triumph in the contest. They are the most successful group to have taken part in the competition.

ABBA are estimated to have sold 140 to over 500 million records. The band split in 1982.
