Nintendo Switch Online Service Family Plan is Limited to 8

New details about the family plan of Nintendo Switch Online Service appear.

Nintendo announced the details of the Nintendo Switch Online Service last week. Today, the company released new details about the family plan on its Japanese site. The Nintendo Switch Online Service, priced at $34.99 per year, supports up to 8 accounts including the administrator account.

A Nintendo Switch Online Service can be in more than one family. Is Nintendo taking care of patchwork families with this feature?

You can not share the balance of Nintendo eShop, purchase history, points of My Nintendo etc. among accounts that are under a family plan. The family can have parents and child accounts.

You can start today May 15, according to a Nintendo FAQ, to set up a family group in your Nintendo Account settings.

The Nintendo Online service will start as a paid service in September. The online service for the Switch is essential for multi-player games like ARMS and Splatoon 2. Besides free NES games, the Nintendo Online service features Data Cloud Backup, a feature that has been requested the most for the Nintendo Switch. So if you want to backup your Nintendo Switch account, you need the Nintendo Switch Online service subscription.

The service comes with the Nintendo Switch app supporting voice chat. See also the awesome music video featuring Jimmy Fallon and Ariana Grande playing a song on Nintendo Labo. The Nintendo Switch is on sale at Amazon.com for $299.
