Google introduces Google One, a more generous replacement for Google Drive

Google One Subscriber's will get Freebies from Google.

Google has introduced a new service to their users, Google One; it is a replacement for their storage plans that are currently offered under Google drive. The new features and benefits offered by Google One certainly make their cloud storage services stand out from main competitors.

Google offers 15 GB of free storage for each account; the same will be applicable to all Google One subscribers, for premium existing Google Drive subscribers, they have introduced newer and more lucrative plans. Last change in Google’s storage plan took place in 2014; they did so after Dropbox reduced price of their storage plans. Just to mention, Google Drive and Dropbox are top competitors which provide cloud storage services for their clients.

All current Google Drive subscribers, both free and paid will be shifted to their new service, Google One.

According to information provided by Google, it might take few months to shift their users from Google Drive to Google One, they also stated that it won’t affect their G Suite business customers.

But we can expect some business model related changes in the coming future.

According to the new Google One plans, the first 15 GB is free for all the users, so does the 100 GB plan which cost $1.99 per month, there is a new plan of 200 GB for $ 2.99.

Google let go with the 1 TB plan, instead, their users will get 2TB for the same price of $ 9.99 they paid for 1 TB plan. This is double of what Dropbox is offering to their clients. 10 GB, 20 GB, and 30 GB plans are available as before, you have to pay $100, $200, $300 for them respectively.

Given the range of different plans available under Google One; how big your storage needs may be, you will find a plan that suits your needs. Although the name and plans have changed, users can share and store their data in the same way they did on Google Drive previously.

Few new things that Google One offers their clients include:

Google will offer free credits and discounts for Google One users, these offers and discounts can be used on Google Play store, or other deals that users find during Google search. So overall, it’s a value-added proposition from Google.

Now the same Google One account can be shared among five family members, each one will get their own private on the cloud storage.

All Google One users who use this service with other products will get support from their pool of exports; this service is indeed very helpful for people with a non-technical background.

The upgrade from Google Drive to Google One will start in USA, and more countries will be covered over time.
