Google I/0 2018 Top Highlights: Artificial Intelligence Everywhere

Google is all focused on Artificial Intelligence.

Google I/O 2018, the developer’s carnival is over, leaving all of us spellbound about the achievements of Artificial Intelligence. What we have seen by now is just the tip of the Iceberg, once app developers have properly understood the possibilities and start integrating AI in their new projects, it will be an all-new world, Google is also encouraging them to do so by providing them access to their ML Kit, which is available through Firebase.

To sum it up in brief, here’s a list of all major developments:

Android P, the new beta version is more intelligent, simple and focused about digital wellbeing of the users. Some new feature included Adaptive Battery, Adoptive Brightness, App Actions, Slices, Dashboard, etc. Full details can be found in our Android P overview.

Google Assistant, your new AI powered companion now comes with six voices, can make continuous conversations and take multiple actions, talk with you and deliver vocal directions through Google Maps.

With its new feature, Google Duplex, it can even call restaurants and book reservations for you. This Google Duplex report has all the details.

Google News, they totally revamped their way of delivering news to the users. The new AI-powered Google News offer personalized stories based on your choices and history. Google Smart Displays, powered by Google Assistant will be available in the market in July, 2018.

Gmail will be able to draft e-mails for you, once you start typing; the new smart compose feature will hint about words to choose from. It's a relief they are only going to be just suggestions.

With Google Maps, you will be able to coordinate with friends in real-time and pick places accordingly. They are also adding augmented reality to Google Maps, point your camera at a street and you will get real-time turn by turn directions.

Google lens will allow you to copy text from the real world and transfer it into the digital form; it can even scan a pattern on a t-shirt and search the same kind of items on the web.

AI-powered Google Photos will give you suggestions about actions to be taken on your photos; you can brighten, rotate, share and do many more tasks using Google Photos.

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are at the core of all developments that are taking place at Google; they want to embrace this technology to provide best solutions for their users.
