Hot Wheels Toys Celebrate 50th Anniversary with Year Long Life Experience Campaign

Hot Wheels, the number one selling toy in the world turns 50 this year.

Started in 1968, Hot Wheels has come a long way, with half a billion units sold each year, it is number one selling toy in the world.

Hot Wheels designs and produces die-cast cars the size of 1:64th of their original version; many automobile manufacturers have licensed Hot wheels to design and sell the miniature version of their different car models. Hot wheels use original blue-print & detailing provided by these companies to design miniature versions of the cars.

"For 50 years, Hot Wheels' intuitive vehicle play-pattern has contributed to its success as the number-one selling toy in the world," said Chris Down, Senior Vice President and Global Brand GM, Hot Wheels. "Since its introduction in 1968, the brand has evolved from a simple toy into a true lifestyle brand that champions the challenger spirit through gaming, digital content, partnerships and live experiences spanning multiple generations and ages — this has allowed the brand to remain relevant to kids and adults and see record growth over the past three years."

On its 50th anniversary, Hot Wheel has announced a full year dedicated to live experiences and new products for their fans. The company has launched a search program, called the Legends Tour, during this tour the company will visit 14 Walmart stores at different locations in America; owners of custom built cars can participate in the contest, and the winner’s cars will be eligible to take part in the SEMA Auto Show, 2018.

One out of these 14 cars will be chosen to be made into a new Hot Wheel car.

The company has also announced a full year of a marketing campaign that will include different sporting events for the younger generation (8 to 14year old). Contests for skating, BMX and Carting will be organized by the company, and the winners will get a chance to participate in Grand Prix of Sonoma.

Betta Carrero, the 7.5-Acre Latin American theme park will be the host to live stunt shows organized by Hot Wheels, the whole park, including retails shops and restaurants will be themed around the toy brand.

In May, 2018, the Toy company also organized an exhibit at The Children's Museum of Indianapolis; the event was focused on speed, safety, and science behind motorsports.

As the younger generation focus is shifting to digital products, Hot Wheels has been struggling with the sales of their products, last year Mattel reported a loss of $ 1.1 Billion.

To gain the interest of the young generation Hot Wheels is making new partnerships with different companies and sportspersons, 2016 Formula 1 champion Nico Rosberg will be promoting Hot Wheel brand among the younger masses.
