BlitzWolf BW-BR2 Bluetooth Audio Receiver and Transmitter Review

This tiny Bluetooth audio receiver and transmitter is packed with features.

Over the past days, I tested the tiny BlitzWolf BW-BR2 Bluetooth Audio Receiver and Transmitter. With this little gadget (47.8x47.8x9.8mm), I can play my Soundcloud collection on my 25-year-old beloved stereo with analog amplifier. The BlitzWolf device connects via Bluetooth 4.1 to my MacBook Pro and the music starts pumping out of the speakers.

In case the audio is not sounding as it should check the volume on the source. To make the Phono port on the Denon stereo, I had to set the volume at about 30% on the MacBook Pro to get the optimum sound quality.

The BW-BR2 Bluetooth receiver (buy now for less than $25) comes with all the cables you need to connect audio devices. You get an RCA cable and one for a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The small box is able to allow two sources connected to it at the same time. It also can be used in transmitter mode. You could, for instance, use a CD player and send audio to a wireless Bluetooth speaker.

The Blitz Wolf BW-BR2 has also a built-in battery that provides up to 10 hours of play time. I'm not quite sure why you would need to use the device on battery, maybe in the car that's convenient.

The BlitzWolf Bluetooth audio receiver worked as advertised in my test. It pairs quickly and works up to a distance of about 7m. I have used Bluetooth receivers in the past, but not as compact as this one. At the low $24.99 price, the BlitzWolf Bluetooth audio gadget is highly recommendable. The device is available through the gadget shop

The brand name of this Chinese gadget maker is unusual. I thought the company chose the name in reference to the legendary Blitz Wolf cartoon (1942) from Tex Avery, that made fun of Hitler. The name has though nothing to do with this classic cartoon. The name should express that their products help simplify your life.

About the BlitzWolf BW-BR2 technology: The device operates on a CSR8670 Bluetooth chip providing a wide compatibility with Bluetooth devices. The CSR8670 chip is compatible with HFP, HSP, A2DP, and AVRCP protocols, also support apt-X CD sound quality decoding(only support on Receiver Mode). The BlitzWolf BW-BR2 built-in 180mAh battery provides up to 10 hours of continuous transmission. Fully charging the battery takes around 1.5 hours.
