Apple Signs Deal With Volkswagen for Self-Driving Cars

Apple to Hook up with the VW Company to Create Autonomous Shuttles for Workers

Apple has fine-tuned its self-driving car project to a considerable degree. After its plans on cooperating with German carmakers, such as BMW and Mercedes, didn’t pan out, it has decided to look elsewhere.

VW is the new partner it has found on this futuristic journey. Both BMW and Mercedes had not agreed to allow Apple any control over the design elements of the self-driving cars.

Yet VW has been more lenient on this front. Apple wants to combine its forces with VW in order to make autonomous shuttles for its own employees. T6 Transporter Vans will be converted into these special pods, according to New York Times.

Apple’s car department bears the title Project Titan. It has as its main objective, the churning out of both the hardware and software of these self-driving vehicles.

As for the shuttle service, it is known by the code name PAIL. This is an acronym that stands for Palo Alto to Infinite Loop. VW will make the provision of vehicles to Apple in the future.

Things are just getting started at Apple as its administration and workers look forward to exciting and thrilling times ahead. Some of Apple’s self-driving cars can still be seen in the Palo Alto region as they go about their current test rounds.
