Fujifilm SQ6 is First Square Format Analog Instax Camera

The Fujifilm SQ6 is available for pre-order.

Fujifilm presented their first square format analog camera at an event in Valhalla, New York. This sleek new Instax Square SQ6 model is an addition to the line of their Instax instant cameras. The films used by this camera have an aspect ratio 0f 1:1, which captures a wider scene, allowing for more space to be covered while shooting a picture.

The Instax SQUARE SQ6 is available for pre-order on Amazon.com and will ship on May 25. It's retail price is $129.95. Pre-order the Instax SQ6 online at amazon.com, in one of the three colors.

“We are very excited to bring our first square format analog INSTAX camera to market,” says Manny Almeida, President, Imaging Division, FUJIFILM North America Corporation. “The SQ6 is an affordable and attractive option from the INSTAX line of instant cameras to capture real-life moments with a creative twist.”

During the launch celebration of the new INSTAX SQUARE SQ6, on May 15th, Fujifilm organized a private event, “A Night in NY,” in partnership with iHeart Radio. The special event entertained guests by allowing them to create shareable photographic content using the new INSTAX camera. The event was hosted by Radio celebrity Danielle Monaro; another attraction of the event was the song performance by Maxwell George, also known as MAX in the music industry, he performed his number one hit song “Lights Down Low.”

Along with the SQ6 and normal colored instant films, Fujifilm also introduced the black instant films; this will allow the camera enthusiasts to be more creative with their photography skills.

Recently, there has been a rise in the interest and popularity of retro analog cameras, mainly in the younger generations who are only known to digital form of photography by using different digital devices, they are quite fascinated by the physical form of photographs getting added to their collection.

According to Fujifilm website, in 2015, the sales of their analog hybrid instant camera models was around five times against that of the digital cameras.

The new SQ6 available in three different beautiful colors, Graphic Grey, Pearl White and Blush Gold. It also has various other features that add to the creativity of its users. It supports auto exposure, and its high-performance flash can automatically adjust to the frame, resulting in clear pictures of the subjects and their background. When set to selfie mode it automatically adjusts its focus accordingly, a small mirror installed near the lens allows its users to preview the frame before taking a shot. Three color filters that can be fitted to the flash add a retro look to the taken photographs, currently these filters are available in green, orange and purple colors.

It also has an inbuilt timer, a necessary feature for group photos, it can be attached to a tripod by using a socket at its bottom. SQ6 comes with three different modes for scene capture, Double Exposure Mode, Macro Mode and Landscape Mode.
