GitHub Acquisition by Microsoft Leaked

Microsoft is said to announce GitHub deal.

After celebrating 10 years, popular online code repository GitHub sells itself to Microsoft. While GitHub is basically the standard tool to share code, it struggled to make money. Over the past months, GitHub tried to find a new CEO, but failed.

GitHub decided to sell the company and not go public because it was impressed by Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella, said a source of Bloomberg.

With Microsoft's pro open source stance, GitHub can find a great home at Nadella's Microsoft. The last known evaluation of GitHub from 2015, puts the value at $2 billion. GitHub hosts 27 million software developers working on 80 million code repositories. In April of 2008, GitHub officially launched with a simple purpose: to connect developers and make it easier for them to work together with Git.

Google and many other tech giants use GitHub. If the Microsoft deal will have them reconsider using the platform remains to be seen.
