Qualcomm to influence Intel’s Core series with its Snapdragon 1000

The speculations aren’t in favor of Intel and according to the rumor mill, the upcoming Snapdragon 1000 chip won’t be leaving any breathing space for Intel’s Core series.

Yesterday, we covered Qualcomm’s new chipset-Snapdragon 850 that would be used in ARM-powered laptops with Windows 10 installed. But here is a catch - Qualcomm is hiring people to develop Snapdragon 1000 chipsets which are to influence on Intel’s Core processors directly. The news isn’t good for Intel’s fans and with Qualcomm being a sole market leader in the smartphone chipset industry, Snapdragon 1000 could become the next big rival for Intel.

The speculations aren’t in favor of Intel and according to the rumor mill, the upcoming Snapdragon 1000 chip won’t be leaving any breathing space for Intel’s Core series. The said chipset is still in the development mode and it is said to be specifically designed to use in ARM-powered Windows 10 laptops. To ensure the optimum success of this revolutionary chipset, Qualcomm would be employing more workforce to make the Snapdragon 1000 possible in lesser time frame.

Snapdragon 850 was also made for laptops operating Windows 10 and for Snapdragon 1000, the company is said to use laptops with large sizes to attain a higher TDP. While the Snapdragon 845 uses 5W on flagships, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 1000 would be using 6.5W. Adding up the GPU will obviously increase the final figure.

For example, the dual-core Pentium 4410Y clocks at 1.5GHz and is rated at 6W including the Intel GPU. Chips with similar TDPs such as Core m and Y series are being used in ultrabooks. Moreover, the Snapdragon 1000 chipsets are expected to be used in laptops in the last quarter of 2018 or early in 2019. According to other concrete sources, the ASUS Primus ultrabook will operate using the Qualcomm Snapdragon 1000 chip. The aforementioned ASUS machine is said to be launched by this autumn. However, the news is still just a solid rumor.
