GameStop's Eric Bright, VP of Merchandising talks E3 with I4U News.

The E3 2018 is not only exciting for video game fans, but also for GameStop, the largest video game retailer in the United States. I had the opportunity to talk to Eric Bright, VP of Merchandising about the E3 and video games in general on Tuesday.

"We anticipate a strong fall and holiday season for video game sales, but we're even more thrilled that the games launches don't stop with holiday and go into Spring 2019," said Eric Bright. As an example for a Spring 2019 release, he mentioned Kingdom Hearts 3, to be released end of January 2019.

"Video game fans can use gift cards they got Christmas or tax returns to buy new video games coming out in Spring," the GameStop executive explains.

While GameStop is betting on a strong Holiday shopping season, they actually prefer that video game releases are spread out across the whole year.

Mr. Bright also confirmed that Bethesda's Fallout 76 pre-orders have been off the charts right after the announcement on Sunday. Especially the $199.99 Fallout Collectors Edition (Power Armor Edition) with the wearable helmet from the game is extremely popular and sold out despite GameStop having the deepest inventory of all US retailers.

In case you missed the pre-order stock, the free online inventory tracking app The Tracker can help. The app notifies you when the Fallout 76 Collector's Edition is in stock again for your platform.

GameStop has a special team that is publishing new games for pre-order as soon as they are announced on GameStop.com. For E3, the retailer has created a special section with all E3 titles. "We see pre-ordering games is a growing trend," said Bright.

GameStop is further expanding its offering of exclusive collectibles, collector's editions and limited editions to ensure fans get the biggest titles of 2018 and 2019 that can only be purchased at GameStop.

Eric Bright, a video gamer himself, is especially excited about the following Fall game releases:

Madden NFL 19

Destiny 2: Forsaken

NBA 2K18

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Call of Duty

Battlefield V

Red Dead Redemption 2

Fallout 76

Super Smash Bros

Pokemon Let’s Go

This week only, when you pre-order any game or collectible at GameStop, Power Up Rewards members will get 2x PowerUp Rewards Points on their next purchase.
