Samsung Employs 320,000 People In 73 Different Countries

Samsung Shares its Global Employment Statistics.

June 15, Seoul, leading South Korean electronics company Samsung announced that they provided employment to around 320,000 people around the world. The company officials also mentioned that they had spent an amount of nearly USD 15.3 billion on different research and development projects.

This is 13.8 percent more than what they spent during 2016.

As stated in Samsung’s annual business report, the company’s employees increased by a percentage of 3.9 in the year 2017. In 2016, Samsung had 308,745 employees on their payroll in different countries, in 2017, the employment figures increased to 320,671 worldwide.

Within South Korea, the company’s staff increased by over 3.5 percent, with a total workforce of 96,458 people working within the home country. The overseas employees also increased by four percent, Samsung currently hires 224,213 people outside South Korea.

Since 2011, Samsung hires more people outside South Korea, the company also mentioned that they were working with 2,436 different subcontractors around the world.

However, with a total of 34,843 employees, the employment rate in China has declined by six percent. Staff in Middle Eastern countries also came down by 7.8 percent, with a decline of 19.7 percent Africa had a major cut in employment rates by Samsung Corporation.

According to Samsung officials, the decline of employment in these countries is company’s move towards increasing the performance of their sales network.

At present, Samsung has its presence in 73 different countries; a year-earlier Samsung had people on its payroll from 79 countries; it came down by six countries by the end of 2017.

Samsung is one of the most gender-balanced companies in the world, increased by one percent; in 2017, the company had 45 percent women within its total workforce.

The Samsung Group is a South Korean based company that has a lot of subsidiaries in different parts of the world. Being one of the largest businesses in South Korea, the company accounts for around one-fifth of the total exports of the whole country. The main products of the company include electronics, construction machines, heavy equipment and defense industry products.

The company also has a fair share in fields of advertising, entertainment, and insurance.

Started by Lee Byung-Chull on March 1, 1938, the company only had a working capital of around $27 USD. Originally, they started as a grocery store and in the following decades branched out into different fields and became one of the top companies of the world.
