Instagram IGTV Application Launches For Instagram's Most Creative Users

Creators Can Upload One Hour-Long Video On Instagram By Using IGTV App.

Yesterday, during an event in San Francisco, Instagram Company announced that their users could now upload a video of up to one hours long on their website, earlier it was limited to just one-minute videos.

This is indeed good news for Instagram users but not so great for Youtube, given the user base of Instagram, it is very likely that youtube will be facing a lot of competitions in video sharing niche. It seems like it is going to be a head-on fight between these two big companies.

For video sharing and storage, Instagram has launched a new app, IGTV; this is available as a separate full-fledged app as well as through an integrated button on the Instagram home screen. This application will highlight the most popular videos from different Instagram celebrities.

There were already some rumors running around about such new app from Instagram, last month Wall Street Journal had also reported on the possibility of the launch of such an app by Instagram.

“It’s time for the video to move forward, and evolve,” said Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom onstage at the event. “IGTV is for watching long-form videos from your favorite creators.” Just before he took the stage, Instagram’s business blog outed details of IGTV.

The new IGTV app will allow everyone to become celebrities by posting their creations. However, for now, new and small account holders will not be able to post long videos, maybe the company is taking some preventive measures for spam control.

However, Instagram may allow all users to post one-hour long videos in the coming future.

From today onwards users can download IGTV app for iOS and Android, in the Instagram app, it can be accessed via a TV shape button that has been placed over stories.

“We made it a dedicated app so you can tap on it and enjoy the video without all the distraction,” Systrom explained.

“There are no ads in IGTV today,” says Systrom, but he says it’s “obviously a very reasonable place [for ads] to end up.”

Instagram has come a long way, just from being a photo filtering and sharing website; it is now ready to compete with the biggest players in the market.

Instagram has around one billion active users, so it is quite obvious that IGTV will get a lot of audiences, publishers, and advertisers. So, we can expect the launch of some revenue sharing program by IGTV in the coming future.

US market analysts have already predicted about Instagram to earn around $5.8 billion in revenue from the USA alone (in 2018).

After the news, the price of Facebook’s share rose by 2.2 percent in a day, making them available at $202/share.
