Nintendo and Microsoft Left Sony Behind for Minecraft Cross Play
  • Sony Misses Out on the Action as Nintendo Switch and Xbox One Offer Minecraft Crossplay

Nintendo Switch and Xbox One go deeper in the cross-play alliance for Minecraft as Sony keeps PS4 closed for crossplay business

You need to gain the advantage when you can when you are a part of a cut-throat market. As a smart business head, it is better to take chances on the things that your competitors are not, form alliances and make better choices.

Nintendo and Microsoft are doing that already. With E3 2018 being one of the biggest gaming events around the world, the gamers wanted to hear a lot of good news.

Instead, they got a surprising string of bad news from Sony PlayStation camp. They were blocking gamers Fortnite accounts from being accessed through other gaming consoles. It came at a very strategic time when Nintendo was set to release Fortnite for Nintendo Switch.

The announcement by Sony meant that all PS4 players who had Fortnite accounts cannot access their accounts through Nintendo Switch.

Now Nintendo Switch has gained a lot of popularity because of its handheld mode. It offers gameplay on the go and it made sense to play the game on PS4 at home and take it on the go on the Nintendo Switch. However, PS4 shut down not only the Fortnite cross play but all kinds of cross-play with any other console.

In the meantime, Microsoft seized the opportunity and announced cross play with Nintendo Switch and Xbox One. Players rejoiced as they rushed to shut down their accounts on PS4 and make new ones for the cross play enabled consoles.

They are not keeping their eyes on Fortnite only. The gaming companies just released a trailer in which they are promoting cross-play between Nintendo Switch and Xbox One for Minecraft.

The end title of the trailer features the slogan, “Create Together, Explore Together, Survive Together, Better Together.”

Not only is it promoting the cross-play between the two gaming consoles, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One, it is also rubbing in the gaming console that is not in the mix. Sony PS4.
