  • Sony PlayStation 4 is the Top Selling Gaming Console for May 2018 as Recorded by NDP

NDP has recorded that the Sony PlayStation 4 console had made record top sales in May 2018 and outsold its competitors (Nintendo Switch and Xbox One) as well

With the E3 2018 almost done, it is time to find out which gaming console generated the best business with the hype of the event. Gamers would have stocked up on their gaming consoles to get their hands on the new releases on E3 2018. Now, we know there are organizations which record sales of the gaming consoles and games.

The NPD Group is an industry-tracking firm that tracked the sales of all the major gaming consoles. According to their data, all the big three gaming companies, including Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo made record console hardware and software sales.

NDP noted that they broke their own records for this generation in its unit sales. NPD analyst Mat Piscatella said, “Sony’s PlayStation 4, Microsoft’s Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch all achieved all-time unit sales highs for a May month. Previous highs were May 2016 for PlayStation 4, May 2015 for Xbox One, and May 2017 for Switch.”

It was Sony however which pulled ahead of the race when it came down to it. The PlayStation 4 was the top-selling console hardware platform in May in the United States.

PlayStation 4 also became the best-selling hardware platform of 2018 year-to-date. NDP has accredited the variety of options that Sony offers with the low price PS4 Slim that comes in a variety of makes and models, the powerful PS4 Pro, and regular exclusive game releases like God of War and Detroit: Become Human.
