Apple recognizes the problems with the MacBook and MacBook Pro keyboards and they are offering a free repair program for the issues and also refunds for past repairs

Apple is owning up to the problems that have been reported about the keyboards for MacBook and MacBook Pro. The company has acknowledged that there are problems with the “butterfly” mechanism built into the keyboards of MacBook and MacBook Pro laptops.

The complaints about the issues with keyboards have grown in the past few weeks. There have been reports in which people have reported that their keyboards fail entirely to function. These conditions were seen when the keyboard was exposed to dust.

The fragile design of the keyboard also makes them difficult to repair. The reported problems have been taken into account and instead of going around the problem, they are now offering an extended keyboard service program for computers affected by the issue, according to iMore.

The repairs will be covered under the extended warranty. Under the warranty, the replacement of one or more keys or the whole keyboard will be possible.

The repairs will depend on the extent of users’ problems. The warranty also covers entitled laptops for up to four years after the computer was bought at retail.

This will include all the MacBook and MacBook Pro model with the butterfly switches. The duration is far more than the allotted time of the Apple’s extended AppleCare Plus but it shows that they are truly dedicated to making the repairs as accessible to the users as possible.

The repair program covers the issues including, letters or characters repeat unexpectedly, letters or characters do not appear, key(s) feel “sticky” or do not respond in a consistent manner.

Anyone facing an issue with the keyboard for their MacBook and MacBook Pro can simply avail their Apple’s extended AppleCare Plus warranty to have them replaced.
