We all love the chase scene in the action thriller movie bearing the title Mad Max: Fury Road. The images of a dystopian future where everything has gone wrong and the desperate escape from it appeals to our inner rebel.

Some people drive like the punks in the movie on the roads of our modern world. Elon Musk announced recently on Twitter that a Mad Max mode will be forthcoming for Tesla Autopilot. This is particularly so for the development build.

While their cars are stuck in a bottleneck in the traffic, all sorts of maneuvers are used by drivers. There are those who don’t move so fast when the chance occurs to make a go for it.

Others meanwhile jump at the opportunity to bypass another vehicle. It all depends upon one’s style. Changing lanes is a procedure that is fraught with difficulties.

Once Tesla’s cars have autonomous driving assistance facilities in them, one area where care will have to be taken is in case of traffic jams. It will all depend on the level of aggressiveness of the driver. Changing lanes quickly and deftly is the name of the game.

Elon Musk is a genius and revealed this much that the Mad Max mode will work on several levels. While many may think of this as more of a joke, Musk reassured his company’s consumers that it was a very real thing in a Twitter post.

Musk furthermore added that it could be taken all the way with an LA Freeway mode. Let it be remembered that this facility is currently not available in Tesla’s cars.
